LightFair is joining New York City’s celebration of design—NYCxDESIGN—in preparation for its October 2021 staging at the Jacob K. Javits Center through sponsorship of a virtual presentation by architectural lighting professional David Ghatan on Thursday, May 13, to kick off NYCxDESIGN Design Days, running May 13-18, 2021.
“Like LightFair, NYCxDESIGN is re-imagining its programming this year, and we are proud to support its efforts to encourage exploration and discussion of great lighting design,” says Dan Darby, LightFair show director. “While our shift to October means our trade show and conference are not a part of design week this year, we are glad to take part in this virtual edition and welcome all members of the New York design community to join us for educational and networking opportunities this October at LightFair 2021.”
During this free, 90-minute presentation titled “Lighting Design +,” Ghatan will explore the value of quality lighting design by investigating designs that are greater than the sum of their parts. Through project case-study storytelling, Ghatan will navigate the “+” in architectural lighting design. The course will be available for viewing all day on May 13. Attendees can tune in via this link on May 13 to take part in the session.
Design Days is a focused, six-day series organized by NYCxDESIGN—a not-for-profit organization committed to empowering and promoting New York City’s diverse creative community. Each Design Day has its own theme, with Ghatan’s presentation taking place on Architecture Day.
LightFair takes place in person Oct. 27-29, 2021 (conference is Oct. 25-29) at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York. LightFair 2021 trade show presents innovations in commercial and architectural lighting from hundreds of leading exhibitors. The LightFair Conference offer six tracks, 39 sessions, and 94+ CEUs. Registration will open on June 7, 2021.
