National Nail’s CAMO brand of tools and fasteners for deck builders has joined with the North American Deck & Railing Association (NADRA) to promote Deck Safety Month by recommending homeowners inspect their decks before planning activities. Decks are the perfect place for enjoying time with loved ones; however, an unsafe deck could cause serious injuries to homeowners and their guests.
“We emphasize Deck Safety Month because we are passionate about ensuring that decks are built safe and to last,” says W. Scott Baker, CEO of National Nail’s CAMO deck fastening brand, a member of NADRA. “Building decks to code as well as yearly inspections and maintenance are critical for keeping outdoor living spaces safe.”
Deck builders who use CAMO benefit from solutions that provide quick installation and reduced labor while building stronger, safer decks. Introduced for Spring 2022, CAMO’s new line of 316 Marine Grade and 305 Stainless Steel Fasteners delivers excellent rust and corrosion resistance for strength and durability. The line includes hidden fasteners that eliminate popped screw heads, Marine Grade Edge Screws for use with CAMO MARKSMAN Pro tools, and collated screws for use with the CAMO DRIVE stand-up tool. CAMO also has a complete line of Universal Deck Clips for grooved boards to provide a safer surface.
NADRA has developed a checklist and safety awareness information for consumers to help them evaluate their decks. According to Michael Beaudry, executive vice president of NADRA, “With more than 60 million decks in the U.S., it is estimated that 30 million decks are past their useful life and need to be replaced or repaired.”
NADRA’s “10-Point Consumer Safety Checklist” is an efficient way to take a good look at the different parts of the deck for possible maintenance, repair, or replacement.
