Polyglass U.S.A. Inc. has opened a new 62,000-square-foot facility in Phoenix, dedicated to manufacturing roof coatings and primers. Polyglass, based in Deerfield Beach, Fla., is a manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing solutions.
The plant features 52,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space, doubling manufacturing capacity and adding automated equipment to improve efficiency and ergonomics. Expanded shipping and receiving facilities; a laboratory with sophisticated quality testing and color matching equipment; and a new customer service hub to serve regional and national customers have also been added.
The plant features automated computer-controlled ingredient delivery and recipe control equipment to increase accuracy and repeatability between batches. “The automated recipe control leads to unsurpassed precision and accuracy between batches,” says Jeffery Umberger, director of manufacturing. “We see this as a great beginning and just the start of what we hope to accomplish at the new facility — with even more modern automated equipment that can expand production.”
Designed with an eye on future growth and expansion, the Phoenix plant can run multiple mixes at a time and can be expanded to accommodate additional automation equipment. Polyglass now has the capacity to increase production as demand increases.
