Primer Protects Metal Roofs

The Garland Co. Inc. recently introduced White-Knight Metal Primer coating, an all-purpose aromatic urethane with non-lifting properties that make it an ideal primer for urethane topcoats. It is especially effective as a basecoat for Garland’s White-Knight restoration system.

The primer is durable and offers excellent adhesion to properly prepared metal surfaces. Its resistance to mild industrial fumes and light chemical conditions make it an excellent primer for aging industrial roofs in need of restoration. It is designed for application to stainless steel, galvanized metals, Galvalume-coated metals, copper, aluminum and Kynar-coated metal roof systems.

When applied as the primer coating under a White-Knight topcoat, White-Knight Metal Primer coating provides a durable foundation for a sustainable roof system that is easily maintained. The long-term cost benefits offered by this state-of-the-art technology include lower life-cycle costs and energy savings.

Metal roof surfaces can be prepared for the primer by cleaning with a Tri Sodium Phosphate (TSP) cleaning agent or with a non-toxic biodegradable industrial cleaning solution such as Simple Green. When the base coat is followed by multiple coats of White-Knight combined with Garland’s Ulti-Mat fiberglass or Grip Polyester Soft reinforcement, the resulting White-Knight restoration system cures to a durable, weatherproof, reinforced and fully-adhered elastomeric membrane.
