Radiant barriers are a proven, cost-effective technology for reducing unwanted radiant heat gain in a structure. Interior Radiation Control Coatings (IRCCs) from SOLEC-Solar Energy Corp., like LO/MIT-II MAX (e=0.147), are the ideal way to retrofit radiant heat barrier technology to existing structures. IRCCs are applied easily with any standard airless paint sprayer to virtually any roofing system. They work by lessening the roof’s ability to radiate heat inward, keeping the areas below cooler, more comfortable and more efficient to condition. Insulation, ventilation and HVAC systems will also operate more efficiently in the new, cooler environment. LO/MIT will not tear or delaminate, is moisture permeable and electrically non-conductive, is Class-A fire rated and requires no maintenance or recoat for the life of the roof. It is a water-based, low-VOC formulation.
