Siemon announced that digital ceiling deployment utilizing ConvergeIT Cabling Solutions for intelligent buildings has received a silver innovation award as part of the Cabling Installation & Maintenance 2016 Innovators Awards program. Intended to recognize the innovative applications of cabling and communications technology products and systems within the structured cabling industry, the Innovator Awards were chosen by a panel of cabling and communications system specifiers, designers, integrators and managers.
Consisting of Siemon’s 24-Port MAX Zone Enclosure and Z-MAX Category 6A Shielded System with patented connectivity that offers support for power over Ethernet (PoE), a ConvergeIT Cabling Solution was deployed as part of a digital ceiling project at the Alabama Public School System. The project aims to provide the school system with capital and operational savings, improved user experiences, productivity and overall sustainability using a Category 6A shielded zone cabling infrastructure to support classroom PoE-enabled LED lights outfitted with sensor technology for integration with life safety and security and building automation systems.
“Siemon’s contribution to the Digital Ceiling implementation for the Mobile, Ala., school district exemplifies innovation. The Digital Ceiling as a whole is an innovative platform, and Siemon’s ConvergeIT Cabling Solutions are aligned with the platform. The ConvergeIT portfolio includes examples of products enabling cabling architectures, while simultaneously providing the physical infrastructure that supports innovations in connected building systems,” says Patrick McLaughlin, chief editor of Cabling Installation & Maintenance. “We appreciate Siemon’s participation in the 2016 Cabling Innovators Awards program, and believe the Mobile, Ala. school district’s Digital Ceiling implementation serves as an example of what can be accomplished when innovation in technology development meets innovation in system implementation.”
