Factory Mutual (FM) Global is accepted as an organization that sets the industry standard with a testing process for select commercial building products. An approval from FM assures contractors and building owners that the product performs to the highest standards for safety. It also verifies a product’s contribution to maintaining the integrity of a structure, keeping the occupants and the interior content safe in the event of a natural hazard or fire.
USG Structural Panel Concrete Roof Deck is a FM approved noncombustible structural panel sheathing in accordance with FM Standard 4472 for use in low-slope roof systems. In addition, it meets the FM 4475 requirements for steep-slope roof systems and it meets the ASTM E136-16 fire reaction criteria.
“When it comes to evaluating the safety and performance of a product, FM Approval is the gold standard,” says Mike Spreitzer, general manager, structural panel, USG. “With it, our customers can be assured that the USG Structural Panel Concrete Roof Deck will perform as expected under any circumstance.”
USG Structural Panel Concrete Roof Deck resists loads from wind forces of up to 150 PSF (7.2 kPa), and ultimate gravity loads of up to 150 PSF (7.2 kPa), when framing is spaced at 48-inches on center. This structural panel is an alternative to multiple layered systems such as metal deck, plywood metal deck and thermal barrier or metal deck and concrete.
When used in a roofing system, USG Structural Panel Concrete Roof Deck is a suitable structural panel for all weather conditions as its design will not buckle, warp or develop moisture issues. The structural panel can also be combined with other noncombustible materials to create one- and two-hour fire-rated roof-ceiling assemblies. It is also manufactured in the U.S.
