Zumtobel Lighting Inc., a supplier of next-generation lighting solutions, is investing $10 million USD in advancements and upgrades to its New York production facility and in its U.S. sales and marketing infrastructure. This commitment follows the success of the Highland, N.Y.-based production facility along with expanding growth potential in target markets. Additionally, Zumtobel Lighting Inc. received a $1.3 million grant from Empire State Development Corp. (ESD). Under the terms of the grant, Zumtobel has committed to make improvements to its assembly and distribution facility located at the Highland site.
“Our investment in the development of the American market further demonstrates Zumtobel’s commitment to enhance customer satisfaction, expand its product lines along with manufacturing, assembly and distribution capabilities. The funding by Empire State Development Corp. further shows the importance of Zumtobel as a strong and vital U.S. employer in the Hudson Valley region. The collaborative relationship we are developing with the state of New York along with representatives from the various governmental agencies is highly valued by us,” says Zumtobel Lighting Inc. CEO Kevin Maddy.
The funds will be utilized for research and development of next-generation lighting fixtures, connected lighting solutions, employee training and factory upgrades. One example, the purchase of a state-of-the-art laser cutter, which is used in the production of a variety of luminaire parts, will provide more accurate and faster cutting capabilities resulting in faster production of luminaires with better performance and enhanced lighting quality.
Kevin Maddy adds, “This investment in the American market demonstrates the commitment of Zumtobel to the Americas market and the dedication to provide next-generation lighting fixtures and systems.”
